Guilhem is in shock. His wife probably died from a fall down the stairs. The scientific police are on the scene and take DNA samples from the lawyer’s hands, which are covered in blood. His shirt was also sealed for analysis.

For his part, Lieutenant Cross takes stock with Hugo. Guilhem called the emergency services around 8:00 p.m., and they were the ones who found Sylvie dead when they arrived. The coroner therefore estimates the time of death at around 6 pm. According to her first findings, Sylvie would have died from a fall down the stairs. So far, though, it’s hard to know if it was accidental, especially since the doctor found some scratches on his body.

Subsequently, Johanna arrives at the crime scene to pick up her uncle. Since Guilhem cannot be questioned, Yann informs the lawyer that he will have to come the next day to give a statement at the police station. When Guilhem sees his niece, he collapses in her arms.

The next day, an investigation is launched to determine the exact causes of Sylvie’s death. Since the deceased left behind a lot of money, the police believe that her death was not accidental. Sylvie, who has not made a will, it is Guilhem who will inherit her fortune. Yann will therefore summon his entourage to clear up this whole story.

Not far away, Marion learns the terrible news and breaks down in tears.

For his part, Guilhem is devastated and keeps thinking about what happened. Johanna then encourages him to recover before accompanying him to the police station.

At the station, Guilhem told Lt. Cross that he had seen his wife for the last time at breakfast, then specified that he then spent the day working in his office. When the policeman tries to find out what he was doing around 18:00, Guilhem replies that he was on a date with Elisabeth.

Guilhem rushes to find Élisabeth and informs her that an investigation has been opened into his wife’s death. Convinced that the police suspect him of killing her, Guilhem admits that he lied to the police by saying he was on a date with her. He therefore asks her to serve as an alibi by corroborating his statements to the authorities…

In the morning, Laetitia informs Alix that the bank had to file a suspicious transaction report. All amounts in connection with the sale of works by Brenas are therefore blocked until the end of the investigation. And the problems accumulate for Alix with the arrival of Alex to carry out the search of the premises as well as the seizure of the paintings. To top it off, Alix is taken into custody.

During her interrogation, she refuses to reveal the identity of the person to whom the paintings of Brenas belong. Faced with his refusal to comply, the policeman is required to extend his detention for 48 hours.

Hélène, in turn, calls Claudine, who tells her that their friend has been taken into police custody about the authenticity of the paintings. Without waiting, Hélène goes to the police station and declares that she is the collector of paintings. Her grandmother had a passionate and hidden love affair with Brenas in the 1960s. The latter had then offered her about fifteen paintings, which she kept in her attic all these years.

It wasn’t until her grandmother died that Hélène took them back. When Alix opened her gallery, Victor’s partner decided to entrust them to her. Alix then tracked down son Brenas, who authenticated his father’s works. Unfortunately, the police will have to find proof of this link and the authenticity of the works before they can release Alix.
